Can't start a new game.(single player)

a while back i tried a modded online server and got the mods and played for a while on the server after that i returned to my save games and the game loaded the mods on my saves as well . now i disabled the mods but when i want to start a new game in any scenario i get an error notice and return to main menu . i can still load my saves and play them no problem but cant start any new games . i also dont know what the mods were or if they are related to this or not .
