hi,

I love this game, but a few months ago I changed a couple files in my Ubuntu 13.10 system while trying to fix another game, and now when I try to load Factorio... the images and the backgrounds of the text inputs and boxes dont seem to load properly.

My admission of guilt is that I'm not very experienced with Ubuntu or Linux, and I don't remember what the files were any more... but they were part of running a Steam account game, and now there seems to be some conflict T____T

I know the problem isnt with Factorio, but I'm not sure where else to go to fix this, and I'm hoping you'll have seen this problem before?

I updated my ubuntu 13.10 to version 14.x last night.

The image problem is still occurring.

I tried changing the config ini per the graphics discussion in the faq section, but there was no "max size" option. I turned on multithreading, and the problem is less extreme... I can see enough to play the game, although there's still lots of missing graphics... so I'm hoping to get this problem solved.

The version I am playing is base 0.10.12. The character still looks like captain power in the old blue uniform... so maybe that's showing a clue to what the problem is?

Try upgrading to 0.11 and use bitmap caching.

okay, I did upgrade to the new 0.11, and turned on bitmap caching...

The character is in the new design now, but unfortuntely the missing input backgrounds and image problem is remaining.

The max-texture-size is not in the config file by default. add it into section [graphics] ( find a line with [graphics] on it and add a new line after it saying max-texture-size=2048 )

And just to be sure, post the log file generated before trying this fix.

Yep! That fixed it completely.

My Factorio is up and running again!
