Out of the Loop on Starting Conditions for a New Game

I haven't played Factorio since 11.x something or other, but I felt like playing again, so I updated the game, updated my mods, removed outdated ones, and started a new game.

Only thing is, I started with a burner drill, a stone furnace, and a loaded gun. Has the game always given you this from the start? I thought you started with absolutely nothing. Either way, can someone point me to a mod that starts you with nothing? I feel like that's the best way to start Factorio.

Pick up items out of your inventory, drop on ground (Z key), walk away. You now have nothing.

Code: Select all

/c game.local_player.clear_items_inside()

Just to answer this part, I have always kknown Factorio like that (which was before 0.10.0 came out iirc).

That's so bizzare, I could've sworn I could remember starting a game before with nothing. Must just be remembering things wrong.

IIRC in the early days of multiplayer games --create'd from the command line didn't contain the right control.lua so people were starting without any items in their inventory.

Singleplayer casual here, it wasn't that. Although that's an interesting bug.

The first campaign mission starts you with nothing, maybe that's what you're remembering.
