Sometimes things I send to the space station just don't show up in the rocket. But no indication it was destroyed or anything.

Second, once certain buildings (but not others?) are on there, trying to send them back to storage deletes them totally. Contents included. Many very expensive buildings are lost because you need to put them somewhere else. Literally costs me an hour of play time because I want to move a meteor grabber one tile over.

Thirdly, there is no indication that you have to press E to build things on there. A little popup would help. I was trying to click on things in the inventory. Very, very unintuitive. Doesn't tell you how the interface works at all.

When you say buildings don't show up in the rocket, do you mean a rocket silo launches a rocket with other items in it?
In this case it would depend on whether the rocket silo is configured to a manual mode (launches its inventory filled either by you or inserters), or automatic mode (its inventory is filled by logistic robots).
Or do you mean the launched items are sent up to the platform but when the cargo pod arrives the items don't appear in space platform hub's inventory?

This is most likely caused by some non-filtered inserters taking stuff out of hub onto some belts.
Similarly for the second issue. Deconstructed buildings on the platform return to the hub and inserters take them out.

Taking a look at your platform / savefile could confirm it.

Indeed, when a building on the platform is deconstructed, items contained within it are deleted.
This was designed under the assumption that majority of items on the platform are asteroid chunks or can be crafted from them.
Otherwise deconstructing an asteroid collector full of chunks could fill the hub to the brim and make you place some temporary belts to take them out and process them, if your platform design intended to avoid having them in the hub.
(And if you currently don't have belts/inserters available in the hub, new ones cannot be launched up. Plus hub suddenly becoming full could cause unexpected issues with cargo incoming right at this moment.)

Space platform buildings follows remote view building practices (E to select a ghost item to be put into cursor, or Q to pipette a thing into cursor - either a building previously placed or an item from some building's inventory).
I'm not sure whether there is a tutorial / Tip & trick for the remote view. (There is one for the pipette.)

Can you please provide save file(s) and step(s) to reproduce the things you're describing?

This, yeah. First time I launched it after I got it, I put some stuff in it and went along. The stuff vanished, as far as I can see. I don't think it stayed on earth. Though, I'm not sure I checked

No, it was in there. I saw it when I pressed the button

Chunks I get, though I would add an eject button personally and let the player sort it out. Thing that bothers me is I don't get the BUILDING itself back! I checked the inventory for it. I looked to see if it was put somewhere else. Can't see it.

I will have to do the file thing tomorrow to make sure.
