[2.0.28] The scenario level caused a non-recoverable error when loading map.

Since the major update I have not been able to load my main map. When I try, I get the Loading Map, Running entity setup, and Checking consistency progress bars one after the other. And then I get a “Notice” with the following information:
“The scenario level caused a non-recoverable error. Please report this error to the scenario author. Error while running event level::on_configuration_changed __level__/freeplay.lua:197: attempt to index global 'global' (a nil value) stack traceback: __level__/freeplay.lua:197: in function 'on_configuration_changed' __core__/lualib/event_handler.lua:87: in function <__core__/lualib/event_handler.lua:84>”
The only thing unusual about this map is it is quite old and a bit large, and at one point a few years ago I had to do some digital gymnastics to get around the limitation that used to prevent a map from running for more than about 20,000 hours.
