Orbital drop queue getting overwhelmed

Hi, I'm not sure if this is how you're "supposed" to play Space Age, but I built three orbital platforms around Nauvis to harvest copper and iron ore and send it down to my cargo landing pad. The landing pad has a request for 4000 of each. However, certain platforms aren't sending it down regularly or enough, to the point of them getting backed up with excess iron ore even with 3000+ unsatisfied demand in the cargo landing pad. They do sometimes send it down, and the platforms are copies of each other, so it doesn't seem to be a player mistake.
It looks like a similar issue to what was posted here by someone else a month ago:

Like that user, it seems the issue can be mitigated by building many more cargo bays on the cargo landing pad. I have built 8 and it more or less solves the issue.
The behaviour I would expect is that you can send an unlimited amount of orbital drops per second. Failing that, the drop queue or rate should be visible to the user so that the unexpected lack of drops can be understood.
