Pasting Loco during Blueprint Placement

I am placing a blueprint of an empty train consist (1 loco plus 4 wagons), I am encounting the following issues:
- After placing the first blueprint, the shadow of another placement near a set of points shows the loco "broken" against the wagons (obviously we can't place a second in the same area, but the loco lights up suggesting it can, with red wagons unattached)
- I shift+left_click on the loco for it to have a copied itinery, the locomotive changes colour suggesting it has been accepted, but the itinery remains empty
- With that shift+left_click, the loco moves closer to the consist by a few pixels, which visually stays until the loco is placed by bots, at which point the visuals return to the correct location
