Steps are random each time tbh. sometimes i am just playing the game and then it crashes. like this log i sent just now. other times it is when the game tries to save, or when my friend tries to join a hosted session. today i tried having him host the session and about half the time when i join the session it desync's the crashes me

If the crashes are random then your machine is unstable.

The second crash has nothing in common with the first one beyond the same weird bit set, so this is a hardware issue.

would you have any guess into what could make it unstable like this? i have over 240 hours in the save with no issue prior and all my other games are working just fine. i just cant seem to figure out what the problem is.

Factorio is memory heavy, more so than most other programs and games, so it could have something to do with a bad stick. I know the devs have linked memtest64 a few times, though I'm not in a position to look that up at the moment.

appreciate this so much homie! ended up being a bad stick of ram that i had swapped in just before the crashes started happening. took out the stick and put another in and its been fine ever since. thank you all that helped me fix it!
