[0.15.40] Mac OS X - Stuck on loading at 89%

When I try starting Factorio through Steam, it get stuck at 89%

It get stuck at or after:

38.834 Convert atlas 4096x1568 to: mipmap
I was able to start the game by downloading an earlier version (0.15.37), but it seems it is having the same issue

System:
Mac OS X - 10.12.6
MacBook Pro - 15inch, Mid 2012
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

What if you lower the graphics quality?

In that case try to reboot your MacBook.

If that doesn't help changing video-memory-usage to medium (see link posted by kovarex) should resolve the issue. In 0.16 experimental release we have changed default graphics options for older MacBooks.
