[MOD] 0.9.X]Red Alert Harvester V0.0.5
This Mod was made to Bring the old ore harvester from Red Alert to Factorio.
The Harvester can drive like a car with full driving animations, mine ore and place it in the trunk.
And like the car the Harvester can be unloaded with inserters.
And a Refinery to dump all ore from the Harvester when it is near or on top of the Refinery. The Refinery will then unload all of its inventory to the right of it on to a conveyor belt or on the ground.
Ok this is Version (0.0.5) I added
*A Refinery! But instead of what it sounds like its basically a really big chest that outputs whatever is inside to the right of it in stacks of 4.
-The Refinery will take all ore out of the harvester when it is next to it.(or on top of it the selection box defines its collision radius)
*Also I add a technology to be unlocked to be able to craft the Harvester and Refinery.
Also this is my first mod ever so if i did anything wrong let me know.

Things to do
*Add Mining animations (If anyone knows how and would like to help out please let me know(I have the animations its just I'm not sure on going about implementing them)
*Add a defense point turret so the harvester can defend itself while out and about.
*Add service station to repair Harvester.
* Fix a bug that causes the Harvester to still deplete ore fields when its cargo is full.
*Try to add a Gui interface to the Refinery to be able to toggle whether or not to output ore from the refinery.
*Make the Harvester not collide with the Refinery.
*Update the Images used to make them look nicer.
*Rotate the output of the refinery.
*Add power usage and smoke to the refinery if I can.
Note all images and sounds used are from Red Alert and I do not take credit for making any of them.
Old Versions
v(0.0.4)
*A fix for when the Harvester is mining and an ore is depleted to 1 and crashes the game.
V(0.0.3)
*Automatic coal placement to the burner from the Harvester's inventory as requested. (Thanks FreeER)
-- I have made it so if you have less then 20 coal in the burner it will take coal from the Harvester's trunk until it hits 20.
(small bug if you start mining coal with the harvester and its burner isn't full it will place it in there until it is full idk why yet.)
-- Removed the extra burner slots since they are not needed now.
*Increased Max health of the Harvester from 1500 to 2500.
-- I did this because the harvesters hit boxes are a little wonky.
* Tweaked the mining area and made it smaller so the harvester's inventory wouldn't fill up quite as fast.
--Balancing the amount of time/amount of ore ratio a little better.

This is a cool mod, love the c&c sprite. I was wondering though would it be possible to get the harvester to mine coal for itself when its low on coal? Like mining it and putting it into the fuel slot by itself when it has like 2 or less coal?

I can sure look into it. Im not so good when it comes to this stuff I needed help with my control.lua to mine but I can try and see what I can do. I think if anything I could give it more burner slots

If you want a hint, you can get individual inventories using game.player.vehicle.getinventory(inventory_index) where inventory_index is a numeric identifier (some are listed in defines.inventory, but you can also do some ingame testing using the console to see which id is associated with the fuel slot)McSpiffy wrote:I can sure look into it

This mod is awesome!, but as a balancing issue can you make it so that biters try to hit the harvester first? also does it have an AI or is it a drivable unit?

Im a noob so as far as biters I have no idea but it is a drive-able unit.

I like this mod, It's incredibly original. But if you can add a turret too it, add one to a train!

do respawn lava from dyteh, after the new or the old game, but the way is still thought before I forget .. whatever was spent on the production of oil or fuel resource for realism .. or make another button for that would be if he started manual machine production and then you go until he produces without permission.

I didn't make the mod to be compatible with other mods because A) I don't know what to predict other mods would have and B) I don't know how. >.<

mod is very good, it remains to be drained and cool
