[0.10.12] Blueprint problems

Post by keyboardhack »

Bug
Factorio crashes with a "facotio is not responding message".
Happens every time you try to place a blueprint with a wire in it on top of the same blueprint.

Steps to reproduce:
- Make a blueprint with a wire in it. something like this will do:
Image
- Place the blueprint once
- Place the same blueprint on top of the other blueprint and factorio crashes

Things to note:
It doesn't seem to matter what kind of wire it's.
The wire it self isn't added to the "Total:" in the blueprint preview

Also the information in the "How to report a bug - READ BEFORE POSTING" topic is outdated.

I don't really have anything to say about this topic (But I do think it is something the devs should look into at some point.), but I do have an idea on what Sandro mentioned.

This is likely because of the way modules are added to factories.

The module slots inside a factory are basically like special inventory slots, fairly similar to a chest's inventory, except each slot has a unique purpose. Modules apear as an item stored within the factory in a special slot.

Blueprints don't add items to factories nor chests, and since the module slot is like a special entity inventory slot, they're not added either.

Well the bug here isn't that wire and modules can't be placed with construction robots, but rather that factorio crashes when you place two blueprints with a wire in it on top of eachother.

Should robots be able to place wires and modules? Yes ofc they should. I don't see any logical reason why they shouldn't be able to do so.

I can't seem to get Factorio to crash from this. I'm not sure what the difference would be but I do run the Linux x64 version. As for the wire not being added to the total I recall some thread where the devs said it was more or less intended. Besides if a power pole hooks up to 4 others you don't have to pay the copper wire to hook it up unless you are doing it manually after clearing off the wires.

I get crash if I try to build by "click-hold-drag" blueprint with circuit wires.

I was able to reproduce it in 0.10.12 but it works properly in the 0.11.6 so it was fixed in the meantime.
