[0.10.3] robots flying inefficient
Sometimes robots fly to recharge when they are only a few metres before there destination. At most times the way to roboport is twice as much long or even more. It would be good when robots flying directly to recharge or recharge after the done there task.
Edit1: Robots don't change the roboport to recharge and wait there forever if the port has energy. It would better when they will change the port when a near one is free.

Indeed. It's especially annoying when I'm waiting on them to bring something I've requested and just before getting to me they decide to detour and go to a roboport to recharge.

Sandro, it is quite good, that you point to details, which bother me too, I really like that, but please try to understand, what's a bug and what's a good/important suggestion, because it must be in your own interest to have the real bugs be solved as fast as possible.
Don't take that personally, I think it's in all interest to differ this very clearly.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Indeed I think it's a bug and not a suggestion. It doesn't make sense for a robot to fly over hundreds of meters to get really close to the chest just to turn around, go to a Roboport and then comeback. Always dropping the item first and then go recharge seems more reasonable to me. Since they don't die when they run out of power, robots should only recharge if there's a Roboport really close.
Re: [0.10.3] robots flying inefficient
What the OP is requesting to "fix" is not a bug. He's requesting a feature or change in the way something works. The way the system work now is as intended and therefore not a bug. If something unintended happened, THAT would be a bug. I suggest this topic be moved to the "Not a Bug" section if people want to discuss this further... or to the Ideas and Suggestions section.SHiRKiT wrote:Indeed I think it's a bug and not a suggestion.
Re: [0.10.3] robots flying inefficient
To me definitivaly sounds like a bug. You make the system work as intended, but then you discover a behaviour that is a side-effect of that change. Being a bad side-effect, that sounds to me as unwanted, so a bug. But hey, that's just me. Bug or not a bug, I support changing this behaviour.
Re: [0.10.3] robots flying inefficient
That it should be changed is no question.
The question is, how important is it to change.
The point, why I'm riding around on this is, that the definition of a bug is: the software does something, which wasn't intended or it does NOT something, which was intended. This is not the case here. It does exactly, what was intended: the bot looks, how much fuel he has left and if it is too low, it flies for recharging first. It is also not hindering you to play the game, it just takes a bit longer.
And the point why I find it quite important to distinct that, is that it binds resources of the devs to look into this topic NOW. But what we (or better the most of us) really want, is new multiplayer, new content and especially fixing the "real bugs", those bugs, which hinder to play.
Perhaps they should introduce a board "not a bug, but annoying"
Edit: I googled now around for a while, cause I found, that my definition of a bug isn't hit in the Wikipedia. Well. Maybe I'm wrong. But I also found this article, which hits it quite well: http://www.websoftwareqa.com/2011/01/de ... different/

Imho this is not a bug. We were aware of this scenario when making that bit of a code. But I also agree that it is annoying and shouldn't get buried down in the Not a Bug section. So it either should go to Idead & Suggestions or we create a new category (behavior deffect?). I have put it down on our internal TODO list.

When I found something like this again I post it under Suggestions, right?

Because there is no other board for that: yes.
Hm. Currently I think in suggestions this would go under. The reason why I begun to write the suggestion summaries is, cause the devs don't have the time to read through all suggestions and pick out the rosins.

I moved it into minor issues.
