Wooden Walls
At the moment, the only form of defences we have are stone walls, which are very difficult to build early game, and make defence difficult, especially in games where alien nests are big or numerous. i propose wooden walls as a way to alleviate this, as well as to give wood another use other than inefficient fuel or for building power poles. they would have maybe a tenth of the health of stone walls, but would serve as a way to breifly slow a wave of biters so that the player can move into position to defend, or to arm a turret.
Re: Wooden Walls
A big disadvantage is that you have to manually cut down trees, in the other hand you can fully automate the stone wall production. This is a "wood dilemma" - the nature of that material is that it would be good for early stages of the game, cause you know, it is a wood, but in that stage you cannot automate the wood production. Until we had something like bulldozer, it would be not a good idea to force players to make this tedious work.
Also think of desert areas with almost no trees.

Re: Wooden Walls
While a fair point, you do still need to manually cut down trees to make room for buildings anyway, so giving them an actual use makes cutting trees less of a tedious chore and more of a useful endeavour. and yes, trees may be scarce in the desert biome, but that would just be one of the play challenges of starting in that area, not a reason to disregard wooden walls as an option. The idea is that wooden walls would intentionally become obsolete as soon as you have a way to rapidly automate stone wall production.hitzu wrote:A big disadvantage is that you have to manually cut down trees, in the other hand you can fully automate the stone wall production. Re: Wooden Walls
try the treefarm mod. I plant trees to make natural walls, and wood production can be automated.
Wooden walls.
Moved cause identical. Even the title. It was really difficult to find because this one has a dot. ssilk
Simply, walls that are available very early on in the tech tree.

Re: Wooden walls.
This makes sense. Before 0.11 stone walls were available from the start, I'm not sure why they were added as a researchable item.
Re: Wooden walls.
Yep, i've been thinking about a 'Wooden Fences' mod. Will make some effort towards it later in the week.
