Arrows on pipes

Post by keyboardhack »

Figuring out where a liquid is going in a network of pipes can be quie difficult and currently the only way to figure out what way a liquid went is to find a pipe with a piece of glass in it and look at the flow of the liquid in that pipe. Problem is that that's not very usefull when the pipe splits off, go underground or turns because in all those cases there is no way to see the flow of a liquid.
Problem is shown here:

An arrow on top of every single pipe, which is connected to more than two pipes, showing which ways a liquid is flowing would solve this issue.
Something like this:

Don't take this the wrong way, but I have to ask: Why is this needed?

The flow depends on the presure between the connected pipes. I can think of something like a layer, that shows more information on the pipes.

To bring sense into this "layer", the following information should be shown in it:
- Type of fluid (just colors)
- Level (simply by the "thickness"). The direction follows directly out of context: The fluid flows from thick to thin.
- Empty areas (or very low level/pressure) should be red or so...
- The temperature: Could be small "thermometers" left or right to those pipe-pieces that show normally the icon of the fluid.
- The fluid-icons should be turned off in this view.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
