Re: Development and Discussion
Any chance the pressure tanks mod can be changed to not depend on anything else? Currently, they require angelspetrochem.

Re: Friday Facts #249 - Dead end exploration
For me, one of the biggest headaches is managing modded blueprints. I play modded (Bob's) most of the time. But I also play vanilla on occasion. If I do a vanilla game, my modded blueprints all have a big "?" on them and are invalid. They clutter up my space, which makes the creation of a ...

Re: Friday Facts #248 - Not Saturday Facts
And in general looking at "hacks" that mods are currently doing and seeing if it's reasonable to make the game support what the mod was trying to do in a non-hacky way. The very first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was: Factorissimo!! I have no idea how this mod does what it d...

Re: [0.16.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Is there a compiled list of major changes since the 0.15 version by any chance? I'm very interested to see what's happened with Bob's in the last half year. First post of this topic has the complete 0.16 change log in it. that's about as good as you're going to get. Changes are as from latest 0.15 ...

Re: [0.16.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Hey all. I haven't played since 0.15 but I have a question for when we start up afresh: One thing I noticed last time was that in the later stages, when things are quite maxed out with modules, productivity is so high that the ore patches don't get used up very fast at all. In fact, a lot of the cus...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
I've honestly never thought about it before, but you're right, probably shouldn't need productivity after the first phase. But then again, I probably put them on the list because you're allowed to do it with steel. Another example. You know how batteries go through the lead. Well if you set up all ...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Now that I'm working with all the highest tech stuff in the mod, I have a question related to something I've noticed. https://i.imgur.com/b0J2KeA.png https://i.imgur.com/imwaLAq.png What we've got here is about 2200 ore per minute going in, and 12,000 alloy plates going out. It's because of all the ...

Top tier equipment is crazy fast!
Experimenting with different configurations for a megabase.
Imagine how much space something like this would take just using vanilla equipment!

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Regarding trains, I'm wondering if there's any disadvantage of the Armored trains over the regular. I noticed they are two completely separate tech tranches, so I'm not sure how to tell what to choose. It's clear the armored trains are less vulnerable to biters. Though I do wonder if they still get ...

>> Instead of mining coal to crack into heavy oil, mine oil and process it properly. Bob, did you address my question about coal -> heavy oil cracking vs vanilla coal liquefaction? From the looks of it, you get far more out of the simple cracking process than if you do the liquefaction routine from ...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Right, which is why I'm thinking maybe it doesn't need to be in the game at all. You don't have to go through bronze to get to brass (or gunmetal) in the mod. Apart from the blue science packs, nothing at all is going to need large quantities of it. [shrug]

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Does anyone use the vanilla coal liquefaction recipe, considering the availability to make heavy oil from coal in the chemical plant? Coal liquefaction is a much more complex process, and it produces far less product than the simple heavy oil recipe. Wondering about the balance here. Pretty much any...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
Is there any plan on making Bronze more used? Yes, it's used in the blue science packs, but that's quite nearly all. Kind of a weird alloy that might do better either applied to more things or cut from the game and replaced with another alloy. https://i.imgur.com/FFaf3EA.png https://i.imgur.com/hU7p...

Re: Pause multiplayer game for first logon
None of that should matter if the server simply keeps the simulation paused until the first person is actually ready to play. So "ignition" should be whoever is the first client which says "I'm fully loaded and ready to go". In the scenario where you have two people simultaneousl...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
I think Aluminium and Brass are both Tier 2 metals, and are both under utilised. ... I'm so out of touch I don't even know what's in my mod anymore >.< I use a mod (I can check the name if you need it) which puts a little button on the screen that lets me know what ANY material is used for. Kind of...

Re: Pause multiplayer game for first logon
Yes obviously that is what is going on... But why? That is the point of my suggestion. To have the server NOT do this. To have it only unpause the game once you're fully loaded. There's absolutely no reason to be running the simulation (especially at full speed) while the very first person is loadin...

Re: Pause multiplayer game for first logon
This is how catching up works: The server saves the map, the player downloads the map, and then the player has to process all the ticks that have happened between where the map state was when it was downloaded and when they join. So if the map is paused from before they download the map until after...

Re: [0.15.x] Bob's Mods: General Discussion
I just noticed something odd about the power poles recipes. There's an anomaly with the Substation Mk2 recipe. It requires Aluminum Plates instead of Brass Plates. The Mk2 medium and big power poles require brass, but the substation is different. Looks like an oversight. All the others (Mk1, 3, 4) a...

Re: Pause multiplayer game for first logon
If no player is online the server is paused until a player has entered the game, so entering an empty server will never require catching up to it. Except this is not what happens. When I enter an empty server, I still have the lengthy "catching up" phase to wait through. Likely, this is b...
