Re: Friday Facts #401 - New terrain, new planet
One evening I decided to clean up the old dune decorative graphics as a secret side project. I was already familiar with the assets because I'd used them in the Alien Biomes mod and I knew I could get something good done quickly. One Friday long ...

... Rimworld. It would just be a fun thing that could catch a new player offguard if two hours after building a Mining Drill on that new Resource the Dune Worms show up from the perfectly peaceful absolutely not menacing hole right next to the Mine. XD Edit: Same Logic could apply to Volcanos located ...

This gave me an idea. It should be Like Dune II, you can't build large structures over sand or soft terrain. https://www.myabandonware.com/media/screenshots/d/dune-ii-the-building-of-a-dynasty-1e7/dune-ii-the-building-of-a-dynasty_19.gif There ...

I know this post is a bit dead, but why not be able to put combat music? Dune 2 did this on ms-dos era, why factorio engine cant do the same?

[Idea] Biters only attacking specific things.
... and find your entire base obliterated; You would only have to "claw back" your fields to restart the factory going. I kind of wanted the Dune idea with the worms where the enemy isn't just triggered by pollution but goes after specific objectives, and if one objective is possible this ...

... you like the biters 3) 3 sizes of moth, ideally one with feathery antenna and scary sharp teeth in it mouth with big black bugs eyes. 4) a giant dune worm, from dune but probably smaller than that but large enough to be a big problem. I’m also hoping to either have texture pack that make everything ...

My all time favourite is the Dune cycle by Franck Herbert. The trilogy of Ā by A. E. Van Vogt is also in my top tier SF books, along with the Foundation cycle by Isaac Asimov. Ender's game by Orson Scott Card is also very high on my list ...

There are no intersections we do not answer! There is no faith we betray! Intersections! Intersections! ...

Re: Sci fi novels and factorio?
... If you can overread this, it is truely awesome. As in some stories, the end is ... way too short, but this is forgivable to some degree. Dune is a masterpiece. See it this way: looking at our ecological situation, even now mankind fails to plan for a time period that exceeds a part of ...

Re: Armour & Gun quickbar location question
... Most every RTS game I played and can remember had the UI concentrated at one screen side, or at most two adjacent ones. For westwood titles like Dune, C&C etc. on the right side; Dark Reign, StarCraft etc. on the bottom; Supreme Commander kinda both, but then with moveable (and lua-moddable) ...

Re: Attacking biters with turrets makes all weapons pointless
... idea in kovarex's imagination. I remember using that strategy (and finding myself so clever to have found that kind of trick) when I was playing Dune 2. Wherever turrets exist, turret creep is a potentially valid solution. And there will always be the "turret creep is acceptable" team ...

[1.1.11] Can't ghost place anything (except blueprints) from map view
Nm, it's already fixed for the next release. Title says it all, but check out my vod from tonight's stream, 3hrs in, I'll give a link when I'm done streaming. First noticed this with belts, but a viewer asked about other stuff, and they were right, nothing but blueprints (including copy paste). Here...

Ahhhhh thats a thread worth of reading ….. Albeit some are mentioned but as I love reading SF I want to add my share The Dune-Cycle is a very rich and good read (though I needed two tries to get started, but it was well worth if you get into) and I can never understand why the first ...
