Opposite facing splitters
tl;dr
A splitter where the output and input sides for each square of the 2x1 splitter are facing opposite directions.
This would help with splitting primarily when coming out of an underground belt, or when two lines heading opposite directions need to be sorted.
Thanks,
Fatsack

[2.0.76] Inserer pickup indicators are mislieading.
Inserters picking up from a splitter only ever take from the output side of it, that I know, it is consistent.
However, this behavior is not very obvious and it rarely actually matters, but when it does, the pickup indicator can be very misleading and lead to dysfunctional deigns that will teach you ...

yeah, that sounds about right! Splitter filter was only 'quality X and above' or 'item of specific quality/any quality' last I played factorio.

For loading splitters/belts from mining drills, there is a workaround with circuit conditions:

Add a belt before the splitter (which is being loaded by the miner) and connect it to the miner. Set the belt to read all ...

I do agree that it would be nice if that was a setting rather than a workaround, especially if it was configurable via circuits.
