I think what you need is a table to store the research progression in, but i don't know how to get the values for that progression. Then you need a script that checks the table every time an item is consumed in your new lab. Perhaps it is possible without using a table and just check the progression...

artillery should do some major damage but as a downside other spawners produce more and better biters? An artillery strike should also trigger an attack from multiple spawners.

Well, it is an expansion on the base game :p
so far the extra stuff carefully follows on the base mechanics. Besides, i don't force anyone to use it :p

[MOD 0.10.X] Vanilla Expansion [v1.1]
Vanilla Expansion is a mod that simply fills in some gaps in the base game.
Version 1.1 adds:
- t4 and t5 assembling machines
- medium and big lamps
- t2 steam engine, boiler and pump
I also want to add higher tier mining drills, solar panels and accumulators.
Suggestions are welcome.
