I want to upgrade my old savefiles(0.17.79) to whatever current. I tried downloading older versions of the game.
I can open my saves with 0.17.79, no problem.
The next version available on the archives is 1.0 which asks for a minimum of v0.18 savefiles.

I guess i need to get a hold of a 0.18 release of the game somehow, but there is none between 0.17 - 1.0 on the archives.

Would it be possible to make some website with online gamesave conversions? I'm a little bit lazy to install old application versions

I've tried to use 1.0 to load my 0.17.79 save. It doesn't reject it right away because of the version but gives the following error

I was able to solve my 0.17.79 save file issue, by finding a pirated copy of factorio 0.18.8 on the web, and used that to upgrade the save file over 0.18.
After the newest version(1.1.36) loads it kinda ok. For some reason all the library gets deleted during this process, but that's a smaller problem.
It would be helpful for other ppl if the 0.18 versions would be also be accessible in the archives.

Older releases of Factorio is available on the main site, all the way back to 0.6! On the download page simply click on "Download older releases...". I use it quite often to update old save files.

If you look at carefully u see that there is a big gap between 0.17.79 and 1.0
The whole 0.18.xx version branch is missing, which is essential to be able to upgrade your older savegames to a version what the current version eats.

Ah, yes, I stand corrected. I must've downloaded my 0.18 zip before the 1.0 release.

I feel the 0.18 version should be part of that list. Although Klonan is probably right with that you could still use version 1.0 to migrate older saves from 0.17. Now the list is incomplete.

Have you tried to download 1.0 and update your save? 1.0 can load saves from as low version as 0.16.0 ... as 0.18.47 did. And it can load 0.18 versions of most mods as 0.18 did. Technically, 1.0.0 is just an alias for 0.18.48.

(Also, I think dropping compatibility with 0.17 saves from 1.1 was completely unnecessary and dumb and annoying, but I don't decide these things)

I've tried the 1.0.0(build 54899) version to try to upgrade my 0.17.79 saves, but as i mentioned it did give an error "unknown entity type fluid-turret". and didn't let me open the saves.
0.18.8 solved my problem.

You must have used demo of 1.0.0
