Can there be an option for the old car physics?

Hey, last time I played I noticed the car had been reworked to be slower and take no damage on crashes.
I thought it was better before... this actually turned me off for quite a bit.
Perhaps adding a 'race car' could justify the fragility and speed.

...and damage to buildings. If I'm driving drunk and run my car full speed into my base, shit should blow up.

I think the car is highly modable. I'm sure there are already mods, that do that (but might not run anymore) and there will be more mods in future.

It depends what you crash into really. For me driving into a rock at full speed knocks off about half the car's health, while driving into a tree knocks off a small amount.

Me too, maybe the annoying thing is you cannot repair your car while you're in it, but personnally only bitters really kill me, not rocks. Rare trees on the way, like on desert biome, I don't care at all.
