Methods / processes for water treatment

I would love to see some options for water treatment implemented into the core game. I know there are mods for this, but I am a purist and like to go modless myself (as I assume many others do). I think there are a lot of fun possibilities in this category.

Can you explain your wishes a bit more explicit?

For the moment being, if you want more complex water processing stuff, you will have to resort to mods. I don't see something like this added now : either it would feel out of place (because nothing in the game uses it, so it would be an obvious late development addition), or it would need a lot of work to be integrated fully into the existing game (because the concept should be introduced more in the early-mid game segment, not post-end-game).

What I am referring to is a method to "clean up" the water that gets polluted by our factory production. Something to process and clean up the water. This could provide more subterranean piping options as well as a whole new avenue of building options.
I know it's a bit pie in the sky, but I also think providing a separate "subterranean" view (similar to the subterranean view in classic Sim City games) would be very fun to play around with in game.
In short, something to take the polluted water, and make it blue again while simultaneously making for a whole new range of possibilities in regards of expanding one's factory. (I.E. a waste management wing of some sort instead of simply repeating more of the same to expand one's factory).
