On a completely vanilla install, suddenly all saves (manual & auto) became corrupt. I did not realize this until the following day when I tried to load said saves to continue my progress. No crashes occurred between the saves being fine and the saves being corrupt.

The error given is "Corrupt map: unknown item prototype ID 28257."

I have attached the last good save as well as the last manual save which turned out to be corrupt.

There are about 8 hours of playtime in between the two saves, so I have no idea what specifically happened to cause this, but most of what was done was just pasting down blueprints that exist in the last good save.

This playthrough has been played both in single player and multiplayer.

In virtually ever case of spontaneous corruption I've seen the issue has been bad hardware on the players side.

I recommend running a memory test: http://memtest.org/

In the case of the save file: it's corrupt. You'll have to use the older one.

This is entirely possible, likely even.

It'd probably be a lot of work, so I understand if this isn't something you'd want to do, but it would be nice if the game checked the validity of a save after making it. Getting an error in-game telling me something went wrong with the save, so I knew to restart the game to continue playing, would be nice especially given how addictive the game is and how many hours one may put into it in a single session.
