I had played the demo of the 11.17 64 bit Windows version for about 2 weeks now, and out of the blue started spitting this error message at me whenever I go to start the game.

<unspecified file>(1): '=" character not found in line

Nothing loads, just the error message. I loved the game so much i decided to buy the alpha earlier than i had planned. but when i downloaded the alpha, the same exact error comes up. Any ideas?

Hm. "=" sounds like a missing translation (the config files for translations have that).

Which language do you use? Try to switch language. You can do that by editing the config file. See https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... _Directory
Remove the setting for "locale" or set someting like "locale=en", which must work.

If that works, please create a short bug which language you used

If not create a long bug report. :)

Edit: Bug report has already been created: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=7&t=9004

0.11.17 came out two days ago, so it's probably a different version :-). Could you please post a Log file?
