So there is a game on steam called Mindustry. It was clearly inspired by Factorio. As such, it has conveyor belts to move items. However, placement of conveyor belts is more intuitive and convenient to me in Mindustry. When you place them they automatically turn to move items in the direction you drag the cursor. They can also path find a bit. Placing them is similar to placing Factorio train rails.

I have no idea if a mod already does this as I usually play vanilla.

There are half a dozen mods for this. Advanced Belt Laying, Belt Brush, Automatic Belt Direction, ...
