TL;DR

Option to add icon/colour/anything to the global/station trainlist view for easy recognition of the trains.

What ?

The goal is to make life easier for all of us playing with trains, where the unfiltered train list view becomes generally a bit too big, while keeping the feature very simple.
The feature consists only of a train parameter - assigned icon/colour/or possibly colour of the first locomotive, or something similar that will allow us to set a distinguishable sign of the train itself. Icon could be set from the train menu itself.


Image shows a small green dot as a possible position for icon/colour/anything, but seriously it could be where its the easiest

The feature would be seen in global train list, but also the station-specific list itself.

Extension of this feature could be putting these marked trains on top of the lists before unassigned.

Why ?

For new players:
Gives easier overview of their specific trains from a global train list, without having to read the station names trains go to.
For experienced players:
Marks the trains that are somewhat important for the player and eases maintenance of schedules.
For train megabases:
Allows assignment of groups of trains for specific stations, distinguish trains from multiple bases with the same train stops.
Some other amazing reason why this should be a thing, but I cant think of any atm ^^

Would allow mass reassignment or schedule changes.

Sorry to bring that a little bit off-topic.

There is that old idea of “train routes”.

Which has a very old predecessor :

This also solves other problems (Always repeating suggestions). Like viewtopic.php?f=6&t=86260 New Train stop condition: Next stop not deactivated

A route can easily have such an identifying thing. I think simply to color or the route-name. So this identifying thing it is not part of a train, but part of a route and is displayed only, if a train schedule comes from a train route.

And allows exactly what I’ve been quoting.

(It could be implemented as mod, but what keeps is the display of that thing in the train list, so you might be right to first implement this, then the train routes )
