If you put a water pump down, then cover it with land, and move, part of the graphic (the part that goes in the water) will be missing while you are moving up, left, right, but not down.

Hmm, you are correct. Offshore pumps on landfilled chunks that don't have any water on them draw the underwater piece above ground if there are chunks that do have water on screen.
