All structures should have their own lighting / lighting slots

Adding lamps just becomes an eye sore after a point as it prevents you from having neatly arranged modules. Almost all buildings and electric poles today have their own lights and we should have something similar for factorio as well. If required, we can have lamps on poles (as suggested by others in viewtopic.php?f=80&t=4806&p=36645&hilit=lamp#p36645) and we can also have lamps on buildings.

Buildings and power poles are lit because somebody has added lights on them. They don't just radiate by black body radiation phenomenon.
I'm afraid this will have to stay in the mod realm. There are already some mods that help that :
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/LightedPolesPlus
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/inbuilt_lighting
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/StreetLamps

Kind of this one too : https://mods.factorio.com/mod/lightorio

Pretty sure OP knew that given, y'know, 'have lights'.

It'd be nice if the working animation for buildings (as with furnaces) included some lighting effects -- status lights, for example, or maybe welding sparks in a view window, I dunno --, and even better if there was some ground light spill from them. One of the neater VFX in Factorio is a bank of furnaces working away in the middle of the night, and I'd like more of it.
