hello,
longest underground belt is by 5, please incerase it.

There are some mods that change the standard length of the underground belts if you feel the game's original belts are too short for you.
You can find them using the "search" functionality of this forum.

This is a good example of how to make a terrible suggestion.

The longest is currently 4 tiles (plus input + output)

But one more would be indeed sometimes quite useable. (e. g. assembly + 2 inserters)

I would think the current lenght has been chosen as-is specifically to force players to be a bit smarter in their designs so they can't just "skip" stuff on the way with underground belts.

yup. The first time I used underground pipes it felt like easy mode
