So yesterday me and a buddy of mine got together for a lan party and at some point i wanted to show to him factorio. So i downloaded the latest experimental and logged in to both pc with the same account (mine =) and the game would dc at connect. Was this a bug or i that intended (we both had the same in-game nickname as i don't know how to change the display name if it is even possible). I know this is a grey area about piracy but i m just curious about the cause of the dc and if at all the lan play with the same account is considered piracy at all. I would definitely like to hear your opinions as i am from a country that piracy runs rampant especially with indie studios and for some reason 2d games (???).

In options there is a multiplayer name blank

That was your problem, 0.11.15 has a bug that breaks multiplayer.

If you read the fine print, the account info is only used by the auto-updater. You don't have to enter it.

The devs have been nice enough not to encumber the game with DRM, so we should return the favor by purchasing a copy if we enjoy playing.

Well yeah sure in a utopia sure piracy would be irrelevant however greece as you can probably hear in the news is not .... And it sucks but piracy is the new hot thing as many think that games and movies are not worth the 15 euros (most of the times lol more) to buy and quite frankly it is FAR more convenient to just download the damn thing from a torrent as the are no things like hulu for movies -and steam in eastern eu is ripping us of (1$=1euro). Also last decade i was always pirate first buy later due to the shitty policies of companies like ea and ubi lately as you cannot be sure if the game would run or not in your 2k gaming rig and fucked in the ass one so many times from the ps1 era of basically no reviews to the paid for ign reviews (10/10 it is ok). Finally screw the guy that decided that they are just too hot for releasing demos.

Yeah, but :
one movie, 15€, 2 hours of watching movie, that's 7.5€/h
One Factorio, 15€, 500 hours of gameplay, that's a whopping ... 3 cts/h

And that's "only" for 500 hours of play I know some players here have played more (i'm only around 350-400ish hours last time I counted)

yes of course for us that LIKE the game however this genre is very hit and miss to most people

Guys, before this gets locked, let's not get into a moral argument over the ethics of digital piracy, the mods don't look kindly on it

Oh this topic isn't about how pirates should be added to factorio? I mean there are all those lakes just needing some pirate ships in them... biter pirates? ninja defenses? Did I just come up with end game content?

there is a demo o.O. I just insta-bought factorio after seeing n^3 "review" (showcase is a better word) it

I don't know if the 11.x demo can do multiplayer, and its unlikely it can multiplayer with non demo installs
