What is "starting_speed" exactly meaning in a projectile?

So it's very vague what exactly "starting_speed" is for a projectile.

Checking here - https://wiki.factorio.com/Types/Project ... erDelivery - it says we should be using a float... and it seems all vanilla projectiles are defined with something between 0.2-1.0... however.. what "speed" is this exactly?

Is it a fraction of the range of the projectile being shot per second in speed? It can't be tiles/second since 1.0 tiles per sec would be incredibly slow for a bullet...

It doesn't seem to make much sense..

It is in tiles per tick (1/60th of a second)
