A sort of game play ethics help

Is it okay to spawn in some oil patches if I am in the situation pictured below? I think it would have been near impossible to get oil and survive on this map. Or do you think that this is missing the point of the game and that you are supposed to try and fail, and not give up? Is cheating ever justified (in this game)?

World Info- Ribbon world, 25 squares tall.
PS- the picture isn't showing all the biters, be sure to open the image.
The pink area is where I spawned in oil. I put in ten by my base because I figured I wouldn't be getting much more soon. I also spawned 4 patches out farther away.
To help balance it a little I decided to put a wall of big worms (on both sides) farther out so that way I will have to be smart and not waste resources in order to have enough left to kill the wall.

If you're playing in single player mode, then what's 'cheating' is up to you. If multiplayer, check with the other players first.

As for what I'd prefer to do...I'd try to play the map that was given to me. If it didn't work out, I'd load a new one. But mind that this is just my preferences.

Personal opinion : I don't edit the map. If I chose settings on the start, I deal with them :) If I can't, it's a sign I was too ambitious.

On the topic of justification, which is more fun for you? Starting a new map that might work out better, or editing this one so you don't have to start over? Because if it's the latter, then you made the right choice for yourself.

The game is in alpha. There is no such thing as cheating.
