[0.17.79] inserters won't drop on inner lane of belt

As you can see on the picture, inserters won't drop items (steel plates here) on the inner lane of the belt in front of them and just stand idly as long as the outer lane is full. Same issue on the other screenshot where they refuse to drop the bullet thingies on the inner lane. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong in particular, barely started to play tho.

This is an intentional design decision (and can be very useful in certain circumstances).

No, you can feed other items onto the other side by using inserters from the other direction. Or a belt balancer to force items onto both sides. It's all gameplay decisions you get to make.

I see, haven't seen these balancers yet so I didn't understand the point. Thanks!
