Question about hotbar filter

When I press the filter button on an empty slot in my hot bar it opens up a GUI to select the filter. I noticed a few strange items here- under intermediary products there is a coin. Under Military there is a rail gun, a player port, and a computer. What are these things and how do I get them? I've never heard of them before. Also, I am on version 0.11.12

They're items from the campaign.

After clicking play, the top item on the new menu is "Start Campaign"

So that means they have no purpose in the "normal" game?

They have no purpose, because you can't acquire them in the normal game.
