[0.17.79] Crashes on Startup (GraphicsInterfaceDX11::swapBuffers)

Factorio Crashes on startup. I launch the game and the screen is black, and after about ten seconds I get the error message speaking of an unexpected error. Factorio itself remains on a black screen and doesn't close until I resolve the error box. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Factorio and reset my computer and the issue has persisted, leading me to believe that there is some more fundemental issue with my computer causing it to crash. Regardless, I thought i'd post the log here anyway just in case there is anything more I can do.

Thank you very much for your assistance. Unfortunately, after updating my graphics driver and windows tot heir latest, the problem still persisted. I restarted my computer and uninstaleld and reinstalled Factorio just in case and the problem still persisted. Here is a new log file of the most recent crash if that is of any help.
Many thanks in advance for your patience. ^^

Code: Select all
1.047 Initialised Direct3D[0]: AMD Radeon(TM) R6 Graphics; id: 1002-130a; driver: aticfx64.dll 8.17.10.1267
That is still the same driver version as before. It has been released in February 2014, while the latest one available for your GPU (the one I linked to on the official AMD download page) and Windows 8.1 is from 2017.
No need to reinstall the game, atidxx64.dll (a graphics driver module) is the thing that's crashing.

Ah, yes that seems to have done the job, thank you! Turns out the software used for updating AMD doesn't actually update unless you uninstall and reinstallt he whole driver >:P definately not using AMD on my next computer. In any case, thank you very much for your help!
