I made a map with editor to see what UPS my PC could run when a base would run 16000 science per minute.
Turns out it's about 14.5UPS
(future edit: for context this was on 0.17.79)
I want to share this map so other people can see how many UPS their PC's can do.
UPS on 0.17: 14
UPS on 1.1.37: 31
LAST EDIT ON August 9 2021:
I made a Reddit post:
https://old.reddit.com/r/factorio/comme ... benchmark/
Original 0.17.79:

Some people on reddit already posted some results.
Highest score at this time is 18.8UPS.

Revisiting this since a friend of mine is running this as well.
After the 1.0.0 release Factorio is running significantly better as the results I posted before.
Where I got 14.5fps before I get 17.1fps now! (stable ish)
I even get 17.9fps if I zoom all the way in.
Hardware is unchanged.

Sure thing. I'll do it this week.
Edit: It didn't take long.
1.0 link here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yoigyf6wg1yqb ... 0.zip?dl=0
1.1.6 link here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1bp6i5f8cen18 ... 6.zip?dl=0
0.18 ran at 14.5 ups/fps
1.0 ran at 20 ups/fps
1.1.6 ran at
32.8! ups/fps
That is a 2.3X increase in speed!
That is amazing!
Edit 2: For reference.
CPU: i7-7700K @4.5Ghz
RAM: 2x 16GB @ 2400Mhz (Dual channel)
GPU: RX480 @ 2560x1440 (144hz)
OS: SATA-600 SSD
GAME: NVMe SSD

I bet you could push performance higher by removing splitters

if you can remove belt balancers and clock your inserters on circuits and remove circuits from belts you will have a better performance here for sure

Hey Aanrecht thanks for updating your map! I tried it on my very old shitty Hardware:
Laptop:
Intel Quad Core 2 Q9000 @ 2.0GHz
8GB RAM
-> 10 UPS!
PC:
Intel i3-3220 @3,3GHz
4GB RAM (broken)
-> 18 UPS!
[Both in 1.1.6]
I'm sure my PC could go faster but at the moment my RAM is a absolute mess and i need to replace it. SSD would be usefull though, compared to a 10 year old HDD

Still amazing how this can run on such Hardware, i'm pretty impressed by the fact that there are millions of items on belts and my pc didn't crash.
@Aanrecht:
That base is a absolute monster

Thanks for sharing! Cool to see such a base in detail.
@All:
I's there even worse Hardware out there anybody playing factorio on?
Cheers!

Thanks! Good to see that people are actually using the map as a benchmark.
It has something like 1.5 million blue belts which - I think - are all full.
(It's also not even my biggest savegame, I built a game in 0.16 with a friend that relied on trains and was WAY bigger)
Edit: Made a post on reddit too:

Now Try having a Intel Celeron(J3060) and 4gb ram with an HDD

				Processor I7-9700K
Game version 1.1.5
The minimum scale is 33-34 UPS
Maximum scale - 46-47 UPS
Game version 1.1.6
Minimum scale - 34.3 UPS
Maximum scale - 46.7 UPS
In the latest version, the UPS somehow "twitches" less
But on the factoriobox on my version 1.1.5, the UPS is higher than on 1.1.6, which is why I checked two versions.
I think on the latest processors from AMD, the UPS should be at least 50-55

 Extrapolating.
Note - this is according to the UPS indicator built into the game (F4)
by the numbers on the playing field - 15.988 - which numbers to believe?))))

				Updated the savegame to 1.1.37.
Also added some radars so you can see more when not using "/editor" or other tricks
Stable UPS on my build is now
31.5

				Update on 1.1.97:
I've let the game run for 10 minutes. Zoomed in as far in as I can.
Stable fps hovers between 33 and 34 ups/fps

				Cool setup.
Runs with 51-52 ups/fps (zoomed in completely) on my i5-13600k / 32 GB memory / RTX 4070 on Factorio 1.1.94 / Windows 11.
Very stable ups/fps.
