The longest industrial ropeway

Did you ever heard about the industrial ropeway conveyors? Those cargo aerial tramways can constantly move the huge amount of the resources above the ground, ignoring all of the terrain obstacles.

The longest ropeway conveyor in the world were in Sweden, called Norsjö ropeway. It had 96 kilometers of the two way track. The ropeway was build in the 1940s to transport buckets of ore from Kristineberg to Boliden above the lakes, rivers and mountains. Between 1943 and 1987 this ropeway moved 12 million tons of ore concentrates containing copper, lead, zinc, sulfur, silver and gold.
Currently part of the track is preserved and turned into the passenger aerial tramway.
