My friend and I have been trying to play Factorio multiplayer but he usually cant connect to my game and i cant connect to his.
we both get this error as the client. we have disabled autosave, we have tried with a fresh map, and both games are running as admin and all ports are correctly forwarded.

we have managed to connect 3 times in the past 4 days, but these seem to be random as nothing was changed.

we both run v11.8 - no mods
windows 7

any ideas on what could be going wrong?

just let both games sit at the menu for a bit and then he successfully connected to me. <-- this kinda stuff shouldnt work so im thinking its connection bug.

I get this same error using hamachi though.

I have nod32 running on my computer and i set it to run in gamer mode and i turned off all the firewall options and it succesfully connected 3 out of 4 times. so im thinking that was largely at fault.

if you have an antivirus try disabling the firewall while playing.
