Hi,

I'm new to the forums and played around a bit with Factorio a while ago. After seeing some Youtubers play it recently, I decided to come back to it now, and things are going a lot better.

One thing I cannot figure out, though, it how to wire up chests and smart inserters. I haven't played through the tutorial/campaign, so it might be in there, but I hope someone here can help me. I literally don't even know the key combination to attach things together. I usually also just ignore the logistics robots part, for the same reasons. I think I noticed in a YT-vid that you need to connect an inserter and chest to an electric pole, but that all I think I know.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

It's pretty simple. You craft couple of green or red wires. Put electric pole nearby. Pick the wire click on smart chest, then click on electric pole.
Now click on smart inserter and click on the same electric pole. Voila, your chest is wired to the smart inserter.

I remember, that wiring is only possible from a pole to chest or from a pole to the smart inserter. And you need to pic with the wire from the base of the pole (not the top! Not very intuitive ).

Thanks for the tips. I will give that a try later today! It will make organizing stuff a bit easier, I hope.
