It looks like either plans may have been scrapped or permanently delayed for sintering ovens to use these ore powders.

Am I missing a mod somewhere or is this intended and still to be implemented?

Angel's development slowed considerably for over a year, so plans may have been created long ago but unfortunately didn't come to fruition. Once the mantle is passed down it's possible that plan will be passed along, but even if not I'm sure they'll create something to utilise them.

It's a simple flag to hide them if it's something that bothers you.

Thanks for the response. You mention that things are being "passed down". Does this mean a new person is taking over the mod?
