power consumption moderation

Red and green wires are currently used to control production through allowing inserters to work or not work. it would be interesting if you could string red wire (as shown in this image)

or green wire and have it so that the electric poles only conduct electricity if power production meets or exceeds power consumption. This could be used to shut of non essential parts of the factory if power spikes occur on a regular basis.

We (forum users) are confident, that there will be some kind of device, which can be used to switch on/off power. Most likely the substation. https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... Substation
Should then work more or less like a smart inserter and powers all devices in the area (or not), if the conditions are met.

Make a separate network for power-hungry non-critical devices, and use accumulator bridging to connect to the rest of your base.
