Can I Play Factorio On My Laptop?

My laptop only has 64 MB of dedicated video memory and it says that I need 512 MB. I was able to play the demo no problem but I want to be sure that I can play the alpha before I commit to buying it. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Does your graphics card have any shared video ram in addition to that? If it does, then Factorio might work on it. Another option is decreasing graphics settings and enabling bitmap caching.

What exactly bitmap caching does? I haven't found any explanation anywhere. Should i set it to something? 2x GTX 970 G1 4GB + 32GB ram... so what should i set?

Well, apparently I have 709 MB of shared system memory with a total available graphics memory of 773 MB; I'm not too familiar with this tech stuff, so do you think I will be able to run it?

You don't need bitmap caching if you have lots of video memory.

I have a friend with less memory than that, he is able to play sort of okay with low graphic settings.

To be honest, even I don't know exactly :-D The general idea is that you keep some low priority bitmaps outside video memory and use the slower RAM->VRAM blits instead of the fast VRAM->VRAM ones.

The low priority bitmaps should be trains, spawners dying, and player animations.

What is the model of your graphics adapter and your CPU?

I am running on an i5 ivy bridge with HD4000 and it runs ok (with lots of entities it goes down to about 30fps, but still very playable!
