Reserving chest slots

Hi all,
I would like to be able to reserve slots in a chest for a defined item like it is already done in your inventory or the train waggon. I think that would open new and interesting possibilities for the construction of our assembly areas.

Can't you do it with the smart chest?

I don't believe so as I'm fairly sure you can't do it with logistics chests either

Yes, that would be nice. In addition to the new smart logistics in 0.12.

You can do this with smart chest + smart inserters.

Not really. This way you can only control the amount of 2 or 3 different items within in your chest. With reserved slots you would be able to create a "slow belt" which would make distributing a variety of not so often used goods within your base more interesting (and would have enough drawbacks to not be the transportation method of choice under most circumstances).

Interesting idea, but once the items are in the chest, what would you do with them? Surely you'd need smart inserters to get them out again.

i believe , reserving slots in a chest would be necessary.
If you are having a storage chest to collect Green PCB (for your personal crafting), then you have to block other slots in that chest so that it wont collect too much. if you do that you are wasting the storage space in that chest.
i don't know what a smart chest is , and why is it removed in Ver 0.13.

Change chest sizes from 16-32-48 to 4-6-8. Less space to waste)

Now, all chests are smart. Before, wooden, iron and steel chests couldn't be connected to circuit network. And smart chests were intermediate steop between steel and all the logistic chests.
Now : connect your chest to the inserters feeding it, and set the inserter to stop inserting when chest content is at the level you want, for each item you want.

Or use the car trunk as chest. It's filterable.
