I cannot hear the lasers or lightning guns of my flying drones. That feels a bit meh

I think that they never had those. Making final sound effects of as much as possible is part of the polishing for 1.0, but I don't think that this should be in the bug reports section, so I'm moving it to not a bug.

But in beams.lua there is a function called "function make_laser_beam(sound)".
