My notebook is connected to a corporate domain. So it has redirected appdata roaming folder to network folder. This network folder is offline available when I'm not at the company's network.

I had this error since 0.16.x but used a workaround as setting the config-path.cfg "use-system-read-write-data-directories=true" to false.

Just to confirm, the workaround still works, yes?

Yes, that settings is there specifically for that reason, to make a self-contained folder of Factorio that can be moved around.

This setting is off by default in our zip-package releases on our site so you can move them around and/ore have independent installs.

There are no log files for this error, the appdata-roaming folder for factorio is empty and also no logs in the factorio game folder.
Btw I'm using Steam version and yes I'm using the workaround since ever.

Edit: I noticed you declared it as "Not a bug" but shouldn't network folders should operate as normal like common filesystem?

Well, if you use the app data folder and it is not available as it is offline, how could it possible work?

The folder is always available whenever I'm connected or not.
Enter %appdata% (as roaming folder) will redirect to the network folder which is available too.

On avorion it works flawless with the redirected roaming appdata folder like many other games. Since I said the path is always available, no matter if I'm online or offline.
I assume no logs means it create/read for the config file before initialize the logger.
Still valid for 0.17.58.
Steam may reset the config-path.cfg after an update.
If you mark this thread as 'Not a bug' or 'Don't fix' forever, I'll respect that.

What software do you use to create the corporate network drive?

No Software. It's by Windows Active Directory/Group Policy.
