it was bad enough that you changed the internal names in 0.17 but now you are even changing them on a per-patch basis.

This was in the patch notes.
And I think that the devs have better to do than add changes just for the sake of pissing the mod makers. There is a good reason for the change, it's just maybe you don't see it.

I think the better joke is changing the internal, but then making a crude addition to use the old internal name as localization

It does look to be a part of polishing. Making sure everything uses the same naming scheme is important if you want to be thorough.

Go play 0.16.51 if you can only complain.

Stuff is under construction, expect crashes issues and possibly even data loss and be aware of that.
