[0.17.21] Mod's controlls are not restored after re-installing the mod

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install the mod
2. Change its controls
3. Uninstall the mod
4. Install the mod
Actual: controls are back to the default values defined by the mod
Expected: controls are whatever they were set to in point 2
Why?
Mod settings are saved and survive reinstallation, but the controls don't. The behaviour is inconsistent.
