I am trying to load a save that is in a older version of the game is there a way to possibly get around this?

Map version 0.12.29-0 can't be loaded because it's lower that the minimum input version(0.13.1-0)

What you can do is load and save it in intermediate game versions.
Like open an 0.12 save with 0.15 stable, and save in a new file, and then open the new save in 0.17.x
Bear in mind however that MUCH has changed since then, and many things won't work any more, including some belt contraptions, and stuff.
