The background in the main menu at a resolution of 2560 * 1440 (133.33% of FullHD) is displayed as if the most simple resize filter was applied. Here is a comparison of the same place in versions 0.16.51 and 0.17.8:

I thought I fixed it long ago, but then I broke it again ... so fixed for 0.17.9
