This hasn't happened in previous versions, but seems to have come up with the latest one.

In the research screen (shortcut 't'), existing research going: factorio_crash_start.png

adding Automation 3 to the queue: factorio_crash_add_research.png

removing existing research: factorio_crash_remove_existing.png

pressing 'e' to open inventory, then results in a crash: factorio_crash_and_burn.png

Initial game was created with the following mods:

Mega Bot Start by ZeroSerenity, v0.17.0
Resource Spawner Overhaul by Dark and orzelek, version 4.0.1
Simple Endless Resources by thuejk, version 1.0.3

The crash happens with the mods enabled as well as disabled

If a savegame is required, let me know and I'll provide one.

This happened to me in 0.17.5
Accidentally pressed "e" on research screen, and then crashed.

stdlib_1.0.2.zip

I have the log/dump and the save file if requested.
