compilatron turned of my alt-view

in the NPE when compilatron first takes control of the camera afterward the alt-vie is disabled. i enabled it beforehand and i think it should not be turned off
currently, it is not turned off, but during cutscenes the recipe icons do not show.
I suspect you pressed the "toggle alt mode" button during the cutscene after seeing the icons disapear. This would have disabled it (mouse and keyboard input are not blocked during cutscenes)
